BRIEFLY; TEEN RECOVERING AFTER STABBING.


WINNETKA - A 16-year-old boy was recovering Thursday after a suspected gang member stabbed him in the abdomen the night before, police said.

Police arrested Anibal Rosales, 21, of Canoga Park on suspicion of attempted murder after the youth was stabbed about 11 p.m. Wednesday at Cohasset Street and Oso Avenue, said Los Angeles Police Detective Bruno Pabon of the West Valley Division. The wound was not believed to be life-threatening, he said.

The suspect asked the victim where he was from and then stabbed him after a few words were exchanged, police said.

Police were searching for a second suspect, said LAPD 1. LAPD - Link Access Procedure on the D channel.

BAPTIST CHURCH PLANS EXPANSION

LAKEVIEW TERRACE - Lakeview Terrace American Baptist Church is holding a ground-breaking Sunday for a new church, to make room for an expanding congregation.

``The membership has grown tremendously, so we're bursting at the seams there,'' said Debra Wright, a member of the ground-breaking steering committee.

The construction will cost approximately $1 million and the new church should be ready to open by October, Wright said.

Area food banks suggest that people donate food stockpiled in case of Y2K problems.

``We just want to give people the idea that if they put aside something, they should donate it,'' said Doris Bloch, executive director of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
