BRIEFLY; RACIAL REMARKS LEFT IN DUGOUTS, SCHOOL.


LANCASTER - Detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying the person responsible for spray-painting racist slogans in Quartz Hill PONY League's dugouts and on walls at adjoining Valley View Middle School.

The spray-painted words ``White Power'' and ``KKK'' were discovered Sunday morning Sunday Morning may refer to:
  • "Sunday Morning (radio program)", a Canadian radio program formerly aired on CBC Radio One
  • CBS News Sunday Morning, a television news program on CBS in the United States
  • Sunday Morning (TBS TV series)
 in the dugouts and on walls at the school at Avenue 30th Street West and Avenue L-8, officials said. They had been painted sometime Saturday night, officials said.

TWO ARRESTED AFTER DOMESTIC DISPUTE

MOJAVE - Two men were arrested Saturday night after one allegedly punched his wife, then tried to run down a California City man with whom she had just returned home, Kern Kern, river, 155 mi (249 km) long, rising in the S Sierra Nevada Mts., E Calif., and flowing south, then southwest to a reservoir in the extreme southern part of the San Joaquin valley. The river has Isabella Dam as its chief facility.  County Sheriff's deputies said.

The second man, a neighbor, then joined in beating the victim, officials said.

Kerwvin Fisher, 35, and John Carlton, 38, both of Mojave, were arrested on suspicion of attacking Lawrence Engerman, 46, who sheriff's deputies said had been out with Fisher's wife.

After Engerman and Fisher's wife drove up to Fisher's home just after 11:40 p.m. Saturday, Fisher struck his wife, then got into his car and rammed Engerman's vehicle, deputies said.

Fisher backed up in his car and struck Engerman, who was standing outside his car, deputies said. He then got out of his car and began kicking and punching Engerman, joined by his next door neighbor, Carlton, deputies said.

Engerman was treated at the scene for his injuries and released.

Carlton was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, battery, resisting arrest resisting arrest n. the crime of using physical force (no matter how slight in the eyes of most law enforcement officers) to prevent arrest, handcuffing and/or taking the accused to jail.  and giving false information to a peace officer.

BURNED WOMAN'S IDENTITY UNKNOWN

LANCASTER _ Investigators are seeking the public's help in identifying a woman who set herself on fire in front of a Lancaster doughnut shop Sunday morning.

The woman, who remains hospitalized, had been talking on a pay phone outside the Winchell's doughnut shop in 100 block of East Avenue J when she burst into flames about 6:15 a.m., witnesses told deputies.

A motorist stopped and put out the flames, officials said. Her clothing smelled of gasoline.
