Golf tournament to fund art effort

The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce will hold a golf tournament Aug. 28 to benefit a program for abused children.

The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic 2000 at the Calabasas Country Club will benefit the Free Arts for Abused Children and the Calabasas Community Fund.

The Free Arts program is aimed at giving abused children a safe haven 1. Designated area(s) to which noncombatants of the United States Government's responsibility and commercial vehicles and materiel may be evacuated during a domestic or other valid emergency.

Port sets mark for container cargo

LONG BEACH - Record-setting imports propelled the Port of Long Beach to its best month ever for container cargo, it was announced Wednesday.

Total container volumes jumped last month to the equivalent of 409,979 20- foot container units, a 17.8 percent increase over July 1999.
