BRIEFLY; HOSPITAL NEEDS PEER COUNSELORS.


GLENDALE - Glendale Memorial Hospital seeks volunteers for its senior peer counseling training program.

Peer counselors should be warm, caring people age 50 or older, willing to commit six to eight hours a week for at least one year. The training program will begin Feb. 22 at Glendale Memorial and will continue every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon for 12 weeks.

 VIE IN LIBRARY CONTEST

BURBANK - Friends of the Burbank Public Library will hold its annual Amateur Photography Contest from Feb. 1-23.

There are nine categories to enter: people (posed), people (unposed), animals, scenic, still life, photojournalism, 18 years and younger, special effects special effects, in motion pictures, cinematographic techniques that create illusions in the audience's minds as well as the illusions created using these techniques.  and digitally enhanced. Entries will be accepted during regular library hours at the reference desk of the Central Library, 110 N. Glenoaks Blvd.

A total of $275 in prizes will be awarded at a reception on March 2.

2 STUDENTS PLACE IN STATE ORCHESTRA

GLENDALE - Two local high school students have been selected to participate in the All-State Orchestra of the California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W).  Music Educators Association, school officials said.
