NORTH HOLLYWOOD - Police on Sunday sought two gunmen who riddled an armored car with bullets.

No one was wounded in the attack at 1 p.m. Saturday outside a Sears appliance service center, Los Angeles police Sgt. Kelly Mulldorfer said.

Two men armed with high-powered rifles got out of a van and began shooting at the truck.

The guard got out and returned fire.

A different area of North Hollywood is where two heavily armed bank robbers were killed in a wild gunbattle with police on Feb. 28, 1997. Eleven officers and six civilians were wounded in the 45-minute firefight.

DRIVER, PEDESTRIAN INJURED IN COLLISION

VAN NUYS - A crash at a Van Nuys intersection Sunday left a motorist and a pedestrian seriously injured, officials said.

Two vehicles collided at Sepulveda Boulevard and Vanowen Street at about 6:30 a.m., and one of them went off the road and hit a 30-year-old woman, a Fire Department spokesman said.

The woman and a man in his 30s who drove one of the vehicles were taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, said Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

BOY'S 'DRIVING' LEADS TO HIS MOM'S ARREST

OXNARD - Police arrested a 32-year-old Oxnard woman Saturday on suspicion of drinking and driving after officers stopped the car and the woman's 11-year-old son stepped out of the driver's seat in the 2000 block of Snow Avenue.

An officer followed the blue Dodge caravan at 5:10 p.m. after he noticed that a person sitting in the front passenger seat was steering the van with the left hand, police said.

The son, whose identity was not released because he is a minor, told police his mother had allowed him to drive because she allegedly was too intoxicated.

Police identified the woman as Juana Georgina Acosta and said an investigation revealed that her blood-alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
