BRIEFLY; CITY EXTENDS BAN ON AVENUE PARKING.


MOORPARK - Parking has been banned on the south shoulder of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Avenue, between Moorpark Avenue and Park Lane, as part of the city's efforts to discourage large trucks on Highway 118.

Parking previously was prohibited along most of Los Avenue Avenue, except for the 800-foot shoulder, where parking was restricted from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

But with a City Council vote on Wednesday night, parking will be banned along the entire stretch.

Many of the 3,700 trucks that travel daily through the city park along the shoulder because it is close to more than a dozen restaurants.

COUNCIL VOTES SELF ALLOWANCE FOR CARS

CALABASAS - The City Council has voted itself a $250-a-month car allowance to finance trips made on behalf of the city.

Prior to the council's 4-0 vote, council members were reimbursed 32 cents a mile for city-related business. Council members also receive $300 a month in salary and health benefits.

Jerry Garcia, 27, was treated for cuts to his head after the 11 a.m. collision.
