LANCASTER - A man found dead Wednesday morning in Jane Reynolds Park might have committed suicide, deputies said.

Deputies were notified by a park worker about 7:30 a.m. that a man was lying in a secluded se·clud·ed

When deputies arrived, they found the body of a man lying face-down in the grass, flanked on either side by two empty pill bottles and a bottle of water.

VETS HOME FUNDING MEASURE ADVANCES

PALMDALE - Legislation that would appropriate $12 million as the state's share of the construction cost for the Lancaster Veterans Home has passed the Assembly Veterans Affairs Veterans Affairs is a term of the business that deals with the relation between a government and its veteran communities, usually administered by the designated government agency.  Committee.

The federal government is expected to supply $24 million toward the home's construction, but a law passed by Congress last year changes the criteria for awarding funds.

It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  cut air conditioning to several buildings Wednesday afternoon as part of an agreement to reduce electricity usage during periods of high usage.

The college continued with business as usual, including summer term courses, officials said.

The college went to the interruptible electricity rate plan years ago to reduce its electrical bills, officials said.
