MAN ARRESTED AFTER COUPLE'S ASSAULT

PALMDALE - A Palmdale man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of using a baseball bat to beat a San Fernando couple who spent the night at his house, accusing them of stealing his drugs, deputies said.

Ronnie Lee Cole, 26, was arrested at his home in the 4100 block of East Avenue Q on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon Assault with a Deadly Weapon is the term used to describe the act of threatening to harm one or more people by using a weapon (usually a firearm). Deputies said the couple told Los Angeles police that they had bought a small amount of methamphetamine from Cole in November and spent the night at his house. The couple said Cole awakened them the following morning, threatened them with a baseball bat and accused them of stealing drugs he had stashed throughout the house.

Cole hit them both with the bat, shattering the woman's arm and injuring the man, deputies said. The two fled and got medical treatment at a San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

VISIT BY PRAGER WON'T BE TONIGHT

LANCASTER - A talk scheduled for tonight by author and talk show host Dennis Prager has been postponed because of logistic difficulties, Lancaster Chamber of Commerce officials said.

Chamber officials said they are trying to arrange a new date, probably in about two months.
