Care to support expanded services for the uninsured in Los Angeles County.

About 29 percent of patients in L.A. County have no health insurance. VNA Care, formerly known as the Verdugo Hills Visiting Nurse Association, is a nonprofit agency that provides health care, wellness, rehabilitative and hospice services in patients' homes.

In 1999, VNA Care served 1,851 patients, 289 of whom were terminally ill and cared for by the ``Hospice in the Home'' division.
