PALMDALE - Sheriff's deputies took an ex-convict into custody Thursday during an investigation into a carjacking.

Deputies said the man was taken into custody after a Lexus stolen Feb. 23 in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  was spotted parked around the corner from his mother's house, which he was visiting.

A neighbor called deputies because he saw a man get out of the car and jump over a fence into a back yard in the 2600 block of Juniper Drive, officials said.

Deputies did not immediately arrest the man, but detained him while they questioned a second person, officials said.

POLLING LOCATIONS A PHONE CALL AWAY

Voters can now easily locate their polling locations through a new phone call program announced Thursday.

The Interactive Voice Response system allows voters to determine their polling location for Tuesday's primary election, said Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Conny McCormack.

The system automatically provides voters with polling location information up to election day.

A voter dials the telephone number listed on the sample ballot: (800) 815-2666, enters his or her ZIP code zip code
