Hilton sells 2 major hotels

The Hilton brand was re-united internationally after more than 40 years in February 2006, when United States-based Hilton
 Corp. announced Tuesday it has completed the sales of two major hotels in the United Kingdom -- the 1,054-room Hilton London Metropole Met´ro`pole

Hilton will retain 30-year management contracts on the hotels, which were sold to Arthur Matyas' and Dr. Edward Wojakovski's Tonstate for $812.7 million.

Quiksilver Inc. to be in Mexico

The joint venture will be responsible for establishing a Mexican distribution network of company-owned retail stores, as well as a wholesale business that will include licensed retail stores, large key accounts and small independent retailers.

Huntington Beach-based Quiksilver Inc. will hold a majority stake in the joint venture, said President Bernard Mariette.

Tribune review to last longer

CHICAGO -- Tribune Co. extended its deadline to complete a strategic review, which may include a company sale, and analysts said Wednesday that the media company could be struggling to attract high-premium bids.

William Osborn, Tribune's lead director and chairman of a special board committee tapped to consider alternatives, said late Tuesday that the company is ``committed to a complete review process that will yield maximum value for all Tribune shareholders.'' He expects a final recommendation to the full board during the first quarter of 2007.

Previously, Tribune had said it planned to complete its review by the end of 2006.

Tribune Chief Executive Dennis FitzSimons said in a brief statement that ``advisers to both the company and the independent special committee of the board have recommended that the review process be extended to ensure thorough consideration of all proposals.''

Nokia to extend Yahoo features

As a result of changes, the operating system for Nokia's Series 40 phones can automatically converse with the network Yahoo uses to deliver its own services. That means a much tighter integration of Yahoo's Instant Messenger, Yahoo Mail and any other Yahoo service, a Yahoo spokeswoman said.
