Insurance plan expanding in state

The state's popular low-cost automobile insurance program will expand to cover more residents, Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi John Raymond Garamendi (born January 24, 1945) is a U.S. politician and a member of the Democratic Party. He became the 46th Lieutenant Governor of California on January 8 2007.  is expected to announce today. The program, first begun in 1999, will allow drivers to obtain minimum coverage for their vehicles for as little as $400 annually. Homebuying fair to offer advice

A community organization of low- and moderate-income families will hold a fair on Saturday for prospective first-time homebuyers.

The 8th annual community fair, which is free to the public, is put on each year by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now “ACORN” redirects here. For the fruit of the oak tree, see Acorn.

Document service to expand today

SANTA MONICA - Online legal document preparation service LegalZoom.com will expand its coverage to Small Claims Court today, the company announced Wednesday. Co-founded and partially owned by attorney Robert Shapiro, the site allows California and New York New York, state, United States

Farm group elects a new president

MONTEREY, Calif. - The state's largest agriculture organization on Wednesday unanimously elected Santa Barbara County farmer Doug Mosebar as the group's new president.

Mosebar was elected to a two-year term by 140 delegates for the California Farm Bureau Federation's top spot during the group's annual meeting.

He said he will work to ensure California's family farms and ranches thrive for generations to come.

Army switching advertising firms

WASHINGTON - The Army announced Wednesday that it is switching advertising agencies, dropping Leo Burnett Worldwide Leo Burnett Worldwide was created in 1935 by Leo Burnett. He was born in St. Johns, Michigan, studied journalism at the University of Michigan. He worked as reporter and copyrighter in various companies until 1930. Company was opened in the period of Great Depression. , which created the ``Army of One'' slogan nearly five years ago, in favor of McCann Erickson of New York.

The new contract is valued at an estimated $1.35 billion over a maximum of five years, with the first two years guaranteed and the Army holding an option to renew at one-year intervals after that. An Army spokesman, Paul Boyce, said the contract is expected to average about $200 million a year in the first two years.

Boyce said the decision to drop Leo Burnett had nothing to do with the fact that the Army missed its recruiting target for the budget year ended Sept. 30 for the first time since 1999.
