Chalet's founder to give stock gifts

LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE - After announcing a strong finish to the fiscal year, Sport Chalet Sport Chalet is a retailer of sporting equipment, apparel, shoes, and accessories in the United States.

It operates approximately 40 company owned stores in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, with new stores opening soon in Utah, with the first at Jordan Landing.
 Inc. said Wednesday that founder Norbert Olberz will transfer a portion of ownership to current executives. For the fourth quarter, the retailer's sales improved to $79 million, with profits of $721,726, or 10 cents per share Cents per share

Eatery supply firm set to boost jobs

LANCASTER - A restaurant-supply company will more than double the size of its planned Lancaster distribution center, bringing 350 jobs to the region, company and city officials said Tuesday.

SYGMA Network Inc., a subsidiary of the Fortune 500 company SYSCO SYSCO Systems and Services Company , will build a 230,000-square-foot distribution center on a 20-acre site north of Avenue G and east of 50th Street East. The company announced plans in April to build a 110,000-square-foot center with a work force of about 160.

Sun Micro buying SeeBeyond Tech

 - Announcing its second major acquisition in less than a month, computer maker Sun Microsystems Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JAVA[3]) is an American vendor of computers, computer components, computer software, and information-technology services, founded on 24 February 1982.  Inc. said Tuesday it would buy business-integration software provider SeeBeyond Technology Corp. for $387 million in cash.

The deal is expected to help Sun better profit from its 10-year-old Java programming language, which lets developers build programs that run on multiple computers regardless of operating system and microprocessor.

Better software for iPods released

SAN FRANCISCO - Apple Computer Inc. released new software Tuesday designed to make it easier for users to listen to the increasingly popular, but largely unstructured, podcast offerings.

Apple, which also announced color screens for its iPod digital music players, said the new iTunes software comes with a podcast directory that lists more than 3,000 free audio programs. It also sports a new menu and the ability to automatically send new episodes of podcasts to the user's computer.

WASHINGTON - Ruth's Chris Steak House Ruth's Chris Steak House (NASDAQ: RUTH) is a chain of 106 steakhouses[1] across the United States and in several international locations. The restaurant is regarded as an upscale fine dining establishment, marking a gradual elevation in its status since its founding  Inc. on Tuesday set the terms for an initial public offering of stock worth as much as $194.3 million.

The Metairie, La.-based fine-dining restaurant company will offer up to 11.43 million shares at $15 to $17 apiece, according to a regulatory filing.

The company's shares are expected to be listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market Nasdaq stock market

Honda to put data from tests on cars

WASHINGTON - Honda Motor Co. said Tuesday it would publish government crash test data on window stickers in all 2006 model year Honda and Acura vehicles, providing a lift to lawmakers hoping to bring the information to consumers when they shop at dealerships.

The automaker would be the first to provide the data on the stickers that also list price information, fuel economy and other vehicle details. The crash test data would be required on the stickers under the Senate version of the federal highway bill pending in Congress.
