WASHINGTON - In the latest security breach of personal data, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. has warned thousands of employees that their information was compromised and used in some cases to improperly obtain loans.

The data lost in the breach that occurred early last year included names, salaries, Social Security numbers, dates of birth and length of employment at the FDIC, the agency told employees in a recent letter, a copy of which was obtained Thursday by The Associated Press.
