 set to build 46 new eateries

GLENDALE - IHOP Corp. on Monday announced development agreements for franchisees to build 46 IHOP restaurants over the next 11 years.

The agreements provide for the development of new IHOPs in the states of Alabama, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, New Jersey, North Carolina North Carolina, state in the SE United States. As of the end of the 2005 third quarter, the company's franchise pipeline included signed or optioned commitments for franchisees to develop a total of 377 new IHOP restaurants over the next 11 years.

Drug firms post earnings for Q3

Cendant planning split into 4 firms

NEW YORK - Cendant Corp., which built itself into a $20 billion conglomerate to please investors, said Monday that it is disbanding into four separate companies. The reason for the split: its unhappy investors.

Chip maker says profits up for Q3

DALLAS - Texas Instruments Inc. said Monday that profits rose 12 percent in the third quarter on strong sales of chips for mobile phones and electronic devices, but company shares slumped in late trading as investors digested a slightly weaker than expected outlook for fourth-quarter revenue.

The largest maker of chips for mobile phones had net income of $631 million, or 38 cents per share, up from $563 million, or 32 cents per share, in the year-earlier period. The results for the latest quarter include a cost of 3 cents per share for expensing stock options.

Analysts, who typically exclude such costs from their forecasts, had expected earnings of 40 cents per share, according to a survey by Thomson Financial.
