CALABASAS - Shares of Creative Computer Applications lost more than 10 percent Monday after the company announced a possible merger with privately held StorCOMM.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the companies said in a press release that the merger could be completed by this spring. Creative Computer Applications, a Calabasas-based company that helps hospitals manage their operations electronically, lost 39 cents to close at $3.35 on the American Stock Exchange American Stock Exchange (AMEX)

Mobile ring tones use Disney voices

NORTH HOLLYWOOD - Disney Mobile Disney Mobile is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator in the United States which launched in June of 2006, and will cease operating on December 31, 2007. It operates on Sprint's CDMA network. Disney Mobile is owned by The Walt Disney Company, which had marketed to family subscribers.  is offering consumers ring tones featuring the voices of Disney and Pixar characters, the company announced Monday.

Genentech sees a surge in profits

SAN JOSE - Biotechnology titan Genentech Inc. reported a 63 percent surge in its fourth-quarter profits on strong sales of a string of new drugs, but the results Monday still missed Wall Street's forecast.

For the quarter ended Dec. 31, the South San Francisco-based company said it earned $206.6 million, or 19 cents a share, up from the previous year's fourth-quarter earnings of $126.7 million, or 12 cents a share.

State Farm payout to go to thousands

ALBANY, N.Y. - Thousands of automobile owners nationwide will share in a $40 million settlement with State Farm Mutual Insurance Co. over the company's handling of titles to vehicles totaled in crashes.

About 30,000 consumers nationwide could be eligible for payments ranging from $400 to $10,000, depending on the value of their vehicle. Most payments will be between $800 and $1,850, officials said.

The settlement includes 49 states and the District of Columbia District of Columbia, federal district (2000 pop. 572,059, a 5.7% decrease in population since the 1990 census), 69 sq mi (179 sq km), on the east bank of the Potomac River, coextensive with the city of Washington, D.C. (the capital of the United States). . Only Indiana opted out of the settlement because State Farm had an agreement there more than a year ago, said company spokesman Fraser Engerman.

The company is working with state motor vehicle departments to determine who will receive compensation for buying a car they didn't realize had been in a serious crash.
