BURBANK - Woodbury University announced Tuesday the appointment of Thomas Harrington as dean of the School of Business and Management, effective immediately.

Harrington will oversee the accounting, business and management, CIS Cis (sĭs), same as Kish (1.)

The newest university in the State University System of Florida, the school was established by then-governor Lawton Chiles in 1991, although the site of the university wasn't chosen until 1992, and construction pushed back even further still (until

Skechers, Spears make roller deal

MANHATTAN BEACH - Skechers USA Inc., the Manhattan Beach-based footwear company, announced on Tuesday a worldwide licensing agreement with Britney Spears for its 4 Wheelers roller-skate line.

Financial terms of the three-year agreement were not disclosed.

Under the agreement, credited for Tuesday's stock price spike, Skechers will have the right to advertise and sell a Britney Spears collection of 4 Wheelers and skate accessories in the United States and throughout the world.

The singer-actress began endorsing and promoting Skechers athletic footwear in international print ads last January.

Quiksilver plans TV sport channel

HUNTINGTON BEACH - Quiksilver announced Tuesday that it inked a deal to create what it called ``the world's first virtual action sports television channel.''
