BRIEFCASE WELLPOINT DELAYS CAREFIRST BUYOUT.

The Thousand Oaks-based company said Thursday it has pulled its ``Form A'' application in Delaware to ``delay additional expenses for advisers and consultants.''

The withdrawal in Delaware does not affect WellPoint's pending applications in Maryland and the District of Columbia District of Columbia, federal district (2000 pop. 572,059, a 5.7% decrease in population since the 1990 census), 69 sq mi (179 sq km), on the east bank of the Potomac River, coextensive with the city of Washington, D.C. (the capital of the United States). .

 signs line deal for 'Liberty's Kids'

BURBANK - Kid-oriented DIC Entertainment on Thursday announced a deal with Toys 'R' Us to develop a complete line of ``Liberty's Kids'' branded merchandise.

Firms issue recall of mountain bikes

WASHINGTON - About a thousand mountain bikes are being recalled because the steering tube can break off the frames, causing riders to lose control and fall.

Vivendi Universal stock sinks lower

HOUSTON - Dynegy Inc. agreed to pay Enron Corp. $25 million to settle the bankrupt company's claim that its one-time rival walked away from a proposed merger, accelerating Enron's collapse.
