Countrywide sees strength in loans

CALABASAS - Residential lender Countrywide Financial Corp. on Wednesday said that its loan funding remained strong in February with $48 billion in the pipeline at the end of the month.

Average daily applications during the month totaled $2.2 billion, an annual increase of 108 percent.

Not surprisingly, the company credited low mortgage rates for the strong results.

Fundings during the short month of 19 working days totaled $31 billion, up an annual 121 percent.

February was the fifth consecutive month that fundings exceeded $30 billion.

Graco car seats being recalled

EXTON, Pa. - Graco Children's Products Inc. is recalling 650,000 stand-alone SnugRide infant car seats that may be missing hardware intended to attach the seat to its base.

If the components are missing or misassembled, the carrier may not be securely attached to the base, and may detach in the event of a sudden stop or crash, possibly resulting in serious injury or death, the company said Wednesday.
