BRIEFCASE UNIVERSAL TO GIVE FREE ANNUAL PASSES.

UNIVERSAL CITY - Universal Studios Hollywood will recognize the efforts of California's firefighters and other emergency workers who helped save lives and homes during the recent disaster by offering two free annual passes to all firefighters, law enforcement officials, paramedics, Red Cross employees and 911 personnel from now through March 31.

The annual pass will be issued on the date of their arrival any time before March 31 and will be effective for a full year following that date.

Cherokee board declares dividend

VAN NUYS - Cherokee Inc. said Monday that its board of directors has declared a $0.375 per share dividend. It will be payable Dec. 19 to shareholders of record at the close of business Dec. 1.

Robert Margolis, chairman and chief executive officer, said the company is pleased to be able to follow through on its previously stated goal of enhancing shareholder value through a dividend.

The payment of any future dividends will be at the discretion of Cherokee's board and will depend on the company's financial condition.

SafeGuard's buy of group complete

WOODLAND HILLS - Aliso Viejo-based SafeGuard Health Enterprises Inc. on Monday said that it has completed its previously announced purchase of the dental and vision benefits subsidiaries of Woodland Hills-based Health Net Inc.

Terms of the transactions were not disclosed.

The Health Net Dental and Vision brand name will be retained by Health Net, which will continue to market dental products through its Health Net medical sales representatives.
