ConAgra recalls canned ravioli

IRVINE - Irvine-based ConAgra Grocery Products Co. announced Monday that it is voluntarily recalling about 17,000 cases of Chef Boyardee 99% Fat Free Cheese Ravioli in Tomato Sauce because they might have been mislabeled mis·la·bel

Consumers are asked to return the cans to their grocer for a full refund. No other Chef Boyardee products are affected by the recall.

Vivendi revenue up 9.7% in 2001

Qwest will aid in SEC probe

Qwest battled Global Crossing in 2000 for U S West, the Denver-based Baby Bell. Qwest launched a successful hostile bidding war to break up Global Crossing's merger agreement with U S West.

The SEC is investigating allegations that Global Crossing, which filed for bankruptcy in January, misstated revenue and expenses.

Company officials have said the accusations by Roy Olofson, former vice president of finance, are without merit and that they are cooperating with the investigation.

The Beverly Hills-based Global Crossing listed $12.3 billion of debt and $22.4 billion of assets, making it the largest telecom bankruptcy case in U.S. history.

Intel promises improvements

SANTA CLARA - Intel Corp. introduced a family of microprocessors Monday that promises to improve the performance and increase the battery life of handheld devices such as cell phones and palm-sized computers.

The Intel PXA250 and PXA210 processors will allow improved music, movies and games on next-generation gadgets, which are expected to be popular as wireless networks are upgraded in coming months.

The PXA210 will run at speeds of up to 200 megahertz One million cycles per second. See MHz.

A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  and will be part of high-end handheld devices.

Products built with the new processors are expected to be available by the middle of the year.

Rates on T-bills down Monday

WASHINGTON - Interest rates on short-term Treasury securities fell in Monday's auction.

The Treasury Department sold $16 billion in three-month bills at a discount rate of 1.715 percent, down from 1.735 percent last week. An additional $14 billion was sold in six-month bills at a rate of 1.810 percent, down from 1.830 percent.

Both the three-month and six-month rates were the lowest since Jan. 22, when the bills sold for 1.670 percent and 1.735 percent, respectively.

In a separate report, the Federal Reserve said Monday that the average yield for one-year constant maturity Treasury bills, the most popular index for making changes in adjustable rate mortgages, fell to 2.19 percent last week from 2.25 percent the previous week.
