BRIEFCASE TEKELEC REPLACES SALES EXECUTIVE.

CALABASAS - Telephone network systems maker Tekelec announced Tuesday that the vice president of global marketing and sales at its Network Systems Division resigned from the company to pursue other interests. Lori Craven, vice president and general manager of the Network Systems Division, has assumed Dan Walters' responsibilities.

Craven came to Tekelec in January from Lucent Technologies, where she was vice president for mobility solutions development.

Tekelec, with corporate headquarters in Calabasas, has research and development facilities and sales offices throughout the world.

Sony forms group on digital policy

CULVER CITY Culver City, city (1990 pop. 38,793), Los Angeles co., S Calif., a residential suburb of Los Angeles; inc. 1917. It is a center of the U.S. motion-picture industry, whose roots in the city date to c.1915. Its chief manufactures are rubber products and computers.  - Sony Pictures Entertainment announced Tuesday it formed a corporate-level organization to address challenges and opportunities arising with the digital distribution of entertainment product.

The Digital Policy Group will develop and implement policies that promote the protection of Sony Pictures content in a digital world. It will be led by Beth Berke, chief administrative officer A chief administrative officer (CAO) is responsible for administrative management of private, public or governmental corporations. The CAO is one of the highest ranking members of an organization, managing daily operations and usually reporting directly to the chief executive  and executive vice president of Sony Pictures.

``We're quickly moving to a world where content is distributed over a network of devices and through new technologies, some of which are

being created as we speak,'' Berke said.

Black workers' lawsuit reopened

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals objected to the $4 million in attorneys' fees under the 1999 settlement and to the large disparity in the payments provided to the employees.

The settlement covered two class-action lawsuits brought on behalf of former and current Boeing employees. The lawsuits accused the world's No. 1 maker of passenger jets of discriminating against blacks in promotions, harassing them and retaliating against them when they complained.

Frontier, Xterra recalls planned
