The CHA Medical Group intends to continue to operate Hollywood Presbyterian as a full-service acute care hospital with a 24-hour emergency department, according to Tenet.

As part of the agreement, CHA Medical Group committed to offer employment to substantially all employees of Hollywood Presbyterian at substantially the same salary and benefit packages currently in place, Tenet officials said.

Grill Concepts has quarter's net loss

Grill Concepts Inc. reported Wednesday a third quarter net loss of $199,000, or 3 cents per share Cents per share

Total systemwide sales, including sales of nonconsolidated restaurants operated under license, management or partnership agreements, increased to $18.1 million, from $16.7 million in the year-ago quarter.

For the first nine months of 2004, the company sustained a net loss of $253,000, or 5 cents per share, compared with an adjusted net loss of $56,000, or 2 cents per share, in the corresponding 2003 period.

Consolidated revenues, including cost reimbursements and management and license fees, rose to $47.9 million from $42.7 million in the prior-year period, as restated.

Total systemwide sales, including sales of nonconsolidated restaurants operated under license, management or partnership agreements, increased to $56.6 million from $51.4 million in the 2003 nine-month period.

Grill Concepts owns and manages 22 restaurants under two core brand names: The Grill on the Alley and Daily Grill.

PeopleSoft board fighting takeover

SAN FRANCISCO - PeopleSoft Inc.'s board of directors rejected Oracle Corp.'s $9.2 billion takeover bid Wednesday and vowed to continue its staunch resistance even if a shareholder majority decides to accept the offer.

After more than a week of deliberation, the board of the business software maker unanimously concluded that Oracle's latest bid of $24 per share was inadequate. It marked the fifth time the company has snubbed its bitter rival since the takeover battle began more than 17 months ago.

The PeopleSoft board announced its decision after the stock market closed Wednesday. PeopleSoft's shares declined 23 cents to finish at $22.79 on the Nasdaq Stock Market Nasdaq stock market
