A bank line of credit on which the customer pays a commitment fee and can take and repay funds at will. Normally a revolving LOC involves a firm commitment from the bank for a period of several years.

SACRAMENTO - Tower Records' interim Chief Executive Betsy Burton has left the troubled music retailer.

When Burton, a well-regarded corporate turnaround specialist, was hired eight months ago, she became the first outsider to run the company since Russ Solomon founded Tower in 1960. Solomon remains chairman emeritus e·mer·i·tus

Analysts had looked to Burton, who also acted as the chief restructuring officer, to improve performance as the company continued to lose money. Although Tower posted another loss in the quarter ending Jan. 31 - its 11th loss in the past 12 quarters - analysts said the numbers showed improvement.

It's unclear why Burton left and company officials did not return phone calls seeking comment Tuesday.

Thirty vendors will take part, selling fresh produce, hot food and crafts. Running each Wednesday for four hours, the open-air market will continue through Oct. 22 in the mall parking lot off Tampa Avenue.

Tenet's Barbakow changing his role

Barbakow will step down as chairman and as a member of the board of the huge hospital chain while staying on as CEO, company officials announced Tuesday.

The announcement comes as a shareholder committee issued a report saying the company could face up to $6 billion in legal liability growing out of its practices for billing the Medicare program.

Last fall, Tenet acknowledged that its pricing strategy had triggered unusually high payments collected from Medicare for expensive treatments for the sickest patients.

Federal investigations are under way into Tenet's billing practices. In addition, two legislative committees are looking at company operations.
