 USA division has signed an agreement with T. Dhillon Inc. to convert 10 Lyon's Restaurants to Sizzlers in Northern California Northern California, sometimes referred to as NorCal, is the northern portion of the U.S. state of California. The region contains the San Francisco Bay Area, the state capital, Sacramento; as well as the substantial natural beauty of the redwood forests, the northern  over the next five years.

Two of the locations are slated to open as Sizzlers this fiscal year.

Vertel appoints interim VP-CFO

WOODLAND HILLS - Vertel Corp. announced the appointment Wednesday of T. James Ranney as interim vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer.

Ranney, 47, replaces Craig Scott, who resigned to pursue other interests.

GE workers hold second strike day

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Striking workers at General Electric Co. shrugged off frigid cold for a second consecutive day Wednesday to protest higher health care costs.

GE sought court orders to keep all its factory gates open during the strike, involving almost 18,000 union employees across the country. Strikers planned to be back at work Thursday.

They blocked the main Power Systems factory entrance about 7:30 a.m. Temperatures were near zero.

Unionists said the vigil signaled their resolve if contract negotiations turn sour later this year. The current three-year contract expires in mid-June, with talks expected to start in May.
