GLENDALE - The owner, operator and franchiser of the International House of Pancakes restaurant chain announced on Friday the appointment of Thomas G. Conforti as chief financial officer, effective Monday.

Stockholders vote slated for Syncor

The meeting will be held at the Warner Center Hilton in Woodland Hills.

Company officials said today's meeting was adjourned to Dec. 30 to give Syncor stockholders time to review the amendments to the original merger agreement dated June 14 and other recent developments affecting Syncor. As announced Dec. 4, Syncor stockholders would receive 0.47 of a Cardinal Health common share in exchange for each outstanding share of Syncor common stock.

Wendy's lowers earnings forecast

DUBLIN, Ohio - Wendy's International Inc. slightly lowered its 2002 earnings forecast Friday, saying profits are being hurt by discounts from competitors, weak economic conditions and bad weather.

The owner of the nation's third-largest hamburger chain - which bought Thousand Oaks-based Baja Fresh earlier this year - expects earnings in the range of $1.88 to $1.90 per share, an increase of 14 percent to 15 percent. Last month the company tightened its earnings expectation, saying it expected profits to be at the low end of a previously forecast growth of 15 percent to 18 percent.

Error in Pop-Tarts ingredient listing

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - Kellogg Co. announced Friday that it is recalling 730,000 boxes of Pop-Tarts, warning that the breakfast pastries contain eggs that aren't listed among the ingredients.

The recall applies only to eight-count, 14-ounce packages of Kellogg's Pop-Tarts Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon bearing a UPC (Universal Product Code) The standard bar code printed on retail merchandise, which is administered by GS1 US, Brussels, Belgium and Lawrenceville, NJ (www.gs1.org).  code of 38000 31110 and a carton code of K-3111D.

Consumers who purchased the recalled Pop-Tarts can telephone Kellogg Consumer Affairs toll-free at (877) 877-4494 for further information and instruction.

The price of the benchmark 10-year Treasury note rose 11/32 of a point, or $3.44 per $1,000 in face value. Its yield, which moves in the opposite direction, fell to 4.09 percent from 4.13 percent Thursday.

The 30-year Treasury bond rose 3/32 of a point or 94 cents per $1,000 in face value to yield 4.98 percent, down from 4.99 percent, according to Moneyline Telerate.
