CANOGA PARK - Rainbo Records & Cassettes has acquired CD and DVD manufacturer DOCdata USA, enabling the company to replicate an additional 120,000 CDs a day.

Though the deal's terms remain undisclosed, the transaction includes Canoga Park-based DOCdata's 37,000-square-foot manufacturing and warehousing plant in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. .

Adelphia is under city attorney's eye

VAN NUYS - City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo said Wednesday that his office is watching Adelphia Communications closely to make sure the financially troubled cable company continues its service to Los Angeles subscribers.

Adelphia, the second-largest cable provider in the city, is facing Chapter 11 bankruptcy after defaulting on $7 billion in loans and seeing its stock price fall 99 percent since March.

Adelphia currently has five franchise agreements with the city, covering about 250,000 subscribers in Los Angeles.

Arco settles suit for $45.8 million

Arco will pay $45.8 million to settle a state lawsuit concerning underground-tank violations at 59 stations in California, it was announced Wednesday.

Attorney General Bill Lockyer said the agreement includes the largest penalty ever, $25 million, for violating underground-tank standards.

It also calls for Arco to make $20.8 million in improvements to underground tanks at its more than 900 stations in California.

The payments include civil penalties, reimbursement of investigation and enforcement costs and funding for the prosecution of other environmental protection cases.

Arco also agreed to specified court-enforceable monitoring and inspection at its stations.

Subpoenas issued to 3 chip makers

SAN JOSE - At least three of the world's largest makers of computer memory chips have been subpoenaed as part of a federal criminal antitrust investigation, the companies said Wednesday.

Samsung Electronics Co., the world's largest maker of memory chips, Infineon Technologies AG and Micron Technology Inc. confirmed that they received subpoenas earlier this week.

The three companies, which make up a majority of the $12 billion global memory market, described the U.S. Department of Justice actions as part of an industrywide investigation and said they would cooperate.
