Guess? Inc. Wednesday reported total November retail sales of $33.6 million, a 9.2 percent decrease from the $37 million in sales for the comparable period a year ago.

Comparable store sales for the November period declined 13.6 percent. Comparable store sales for the company's full-priced retail stores decreased 14.8 percent, and comparable store sales at the factory outlet stores decreased 11.1 percent.

Reverse split gets approval

Chairman gives 5 million shares

The Hartcourt Cos. Inc. announced Wednesday that its chairman is donating 5 million common shares to the company for its own use.

The holding and development enterprise is building a network of Internet, media and telecommunication companies in China.

The gift from Alan Phan will enable Los Angeles-based Hartcourt to reduce its outstanding shares and allow the company to record an extraordinary gain, which will be determined by the market price on the dates in which the shares are received.

Layoffs coming due to problems

 Inc. is shutting down its grounded Emery Worldwide Emery Worldwide was a cargo airline, once was one of the leading carriers in the cargo airline world.

Emery started in 1946 and was the first freight forwarder to receive a carrier certificate from the United States Government.
 Airlines business and consolidating three of its existing businesses into one.

The shutdown will put about 90 people out of jobs in Dayton, Ohio, and about 40 more will lose their jobs in about six months, said CNF spokesman Jim Allen.
