BRIEFCASE GELSON'S PROFITS FROM GROCER STRIKE.

The parent company of Gelson's Markets reported Monday that first- quarter sales increased 47.8 percent compared with the year-ago period because of the strike involving other supermarket chains.

The labor dispute between United Food and Commercial Workers The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union is a labor union representing approximately 1.4 million workers in the United States and Canada in many industries, including agriculture, health care, meatpacking, poultry and food processing, manufacturing, textile and  Union and other supermarkets in the company's trade area contributed to the majority of the sales increase in the quarter ended April 3, company officials said.

The labor dispute was settled on Feb. 29. The following month, employees of the company's 18-market Gelson's subsidiary who are members of the UFCW UFCW United Food and Commercial Workers  ratified a new labor contract on terms similar to those reached by the other supermarkets.

Mortgage lender loans $55 billion

Monthly purchase fundings reached a record high of $14 billion, an increase of 45 percent over the same month last year, bringing year-to-date purchase volume to $46 billion.

CEI Comitato Elettrotecnico Italiano (Italian Electrotechnical Committee) 
 College branches in Panorama City, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Lake Forest, Pomona, Irwindale and Carson, and Modern Technology College in North Hollywood.

Maric's original San Diego and North County campuses provide students with a variety of programs, including associate degrees in Network Engineering Technology and Paralegal Studies.
