WESTLAKE VILLAGE - Locally based Dole Food Co. has opened the world headquarters for its Dole Fresh Flowers in Miami, Fla.

The headquarters is a 328,000-square-foot distribution center on 17 acres near Miami International Airport Miami International Airport (IATA: MIA, ICAO: KMIA, FAA LID: MIA) is a public airport located eight miles (13 km) northwest of the central business district of Miami, in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. . The complex includes corporate offices, a flower showroom, sales offices and a warehouse.

Dole's entry into the floral business was created by the acquisition of several floral businesses.

Polaroid to revise bankruptcy plan

BOSTON - Polaroid Corp. has withdrawn a controversial executive compensation plan from the agenda of a hearing next week and says it's reworking the plan after criticism from retirees and workers.

Polaroid previously indicated it would revise the plan after a bankruptcy judge postponed consideration of all but $1.55 million in payments during a December hearing. The original package could have provided more than $5 million to top executives.

Now, Polaroid says the plan won't even be discussed at a hearing Tuesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court bankruptcy court n. the specialized Federal court in which bankruptcy matters under the Federal Bankruptcy Act are conducted. There are several bankruptcy courts in each state, and each one's territory covers several counties.  in Wilmington, Del.

Wholesale prices declined last year

WASHINGTON - Wholesale prices plunged by 1.8 percent in 2001, the biggest drop in 15 years, squeezing some producers but benefiting consumers in an ailing economy.

The big decline in the Labor Department's producer price index, which measures prices paid to factories, farms and other producers, came after wholesale prices shot up by 3.6 percent in 2000, the government reported Friday.
