BRIEFCASE DISNEY SELLS RETAIL BUSINESS IN JAPAN.


BURBANK - Oriental Land Co. Ltd. of Japan will pay more than $51 million for The Disney Store Japan, the companies announced Monday. OLC OLC - On-Line Computer system  will pay Disney annual royalties based on retail sales.

The transaction is targeted for completion in April 2002.

Westlake Village firm wins Navy job

WESTLAKE VILLAGE - Officials of Optics 1 Inc. announced Monday that the company has been awarded a contract from the Naval Air Warfare Center The Naval Air Warfare Center was a former U.S. Navy military installation located in Warminster, Pennsylvania and Ivyland, Pennsylvania.

The U.S. Navy purchased the grounds to establish this facility from the Brewster Aeronautical Corporation following its bankruptcy in the
 in Lakehurst, N.J., worth $25 million over five years to develop a new imaging optical system.

The first unit of the advanced multispectral optical surveillance system will be delivered to the Navy in March 2003 at a cost of $4.8 million.

Short-term T-bill rates in basement

WASHINGTON - Interest rates on short-term Treasury bills fell in Monday's auction, with the rate on six-month bills falling to the lowest level in nearly eight years.

The Treasury Department auctioned $14 billion in three-month bills at a discount rate of 3.180 percent. An additional $12 billion in six-month bills was auctioned at a discount rate of 3.120 percent.

The three-month rate, down from 3.36 percent last week, was the lowest since three-month bills averaged 2.99 percent on Jan. 31, 1994. The six-month rate, down from 3.31 percent last week, was the lowest since it dropped to 3.08 percent on Oct. 4, 1993.
