CALABASAS - Digital Insight Corp. topped the local list of Deloitte & Touche's annual Technology Fast 500 rankings, released Wednesday, as it was named 184.

The computer developer, which has been named to the list in the past, was included for its five-year revenue growth rate of more than 3,000 percent.

Additionally, Chatsworth's Capstone Turbine Capstone Turbine Corporation NASDAQ: CPST, incorporated in 1988, is a California based gas turbine manufacturer that specializes in microturbine power and heat cogeneration systems. Capstone has sold and shipped more than 3,000 of these one-moving-part systems worldwide.  Corp. snared the 350th spot.

ChevronTexaco will lay off 4,000

SAN FRANCISCO San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden  - ChevronTexaco Corp. has begun to lay off 7 percent of its work force, or about 4,000 employees, as the oil giant eliminates overlapping operations in two businesses brought together in a $39 billion merger completed last month.

The job cuts, described in the company's quarterly report to the Securities and Exchange Commission filed late Tuesday, are in line with estimates provided more than a year ago when San Francisco-based Chevron announced its plans to take over Texaco.

ChevronTexaco is pruning pruning, the horticultural practice of cutting away an unwanted, unnecessary, or undesirable plant part, used most often on trees, shrubs, hedges, and woody vines.  its payroll of 57,000 employees as part of an effort to reduce the combined company's overhead by $1.2 billion annually.

Most of the layoffs will be completed by the end of next year, the company said in the SEC document.

Bike maker recall targets tandems

WASHINGTON - BikeE Corp. is recalling about 700 recumbent recumbent /re·cum·bent/ (re-kum´bent) lying down.

WASHINGTON - Hamilton Beach is recalling about 2.4 million juice extractors because parts can break and fly apart, risking injury to operators.
