 Mortgage Corp., a wholesale, non-prime lender, announced Monday that its board of directors appointed Amy Brandt as president.

Brandt had served as WMC's head of production since the company's transformation to a technology-based wholesale lending platform in March 2000. During her tenure, volume has grown tenfold to more than $550 million per month.

Diodes Inc. gives Liu new position

TiVo, Gemstar end their court battle

Terms of the agreement weren't disclosed, but both companies said the agreement won't change their financial forecasts.

Short-term T-bill rates at new low

WASHINGTON - Interest rates on short-term Treasury securities fell in Monday's auction, with rates on six-month bills dropping to their lowest level on record.

The Treasury Department sold $18 billion in three-month bills at a discount rate of 1.005 percent, down from 1.110 percent last week. An additional $18 billion was sold in six-month bills at a rate of 0.980 percent, down from 1.095 percent.

 - After more than 20 years, CNN's Lou Dobbs is retiring the name of ``Moneyline.''

His nightly news show isn't going anywhere, nor is it changing much, but beginning next Monday, it will be known as ``Lou Dobbs Tonight Lou Dobbs Tonight is an editorial and discussion program on CNN, anchored by journalist Lou Dobbs, who is also its managing editor. The hour-long show is aired live on evenings every weekday, and repeated later at night. .'' It airs weeknights at 6 p.m. EST for an hour.

The ``Lou Dobbs Moneyline'' title ``connoted, for too many viewers, a market services show, which it has never been,'' Dobbs said Monday. The new name better conveys the show's broader focus, he said.

Deal for Veridian put at $1.2 billion

FALLS CHURCH, Va. - General Dynamics Corp. plans to acquire defense contractor Veridian Corp. for $1.23 billion in cash, adding a company with more than $1 billion in annual revenues to its portfolio.

The agreement announced Monday also calls for General Dynamics to assume $270 million in debt, pushing the total value of the deal to $1.5 billion.

Veridian, which anticipates sales of $1.2 billion in 2003, draws 85 percent of its revenues from contracts with the Pentagon and intelligence agencies.
