 BRIDGESTONE RUNFLAT TIRE PRESENTATION/DEMONSTRATION SLATED
FOR OCT. 19 AUTOMOTIVE PRESS ASSOCIATION LUNCHEON IN DETROIT
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Bridgestone marketing manager Mike Cerio will discuss "The Present and Future of Runflat Tire Technology" at the Monday, Oct. 19, luncheon of the Automotive Press Association in Detroit.
Bridgestone, which announced in August the introduction of the first commercial runflat tire and wheel system in America, will be hosting the buffet luncheon beginning at noon at the Detroit Press Club. Following the speech, a demonstration of Bridgestone's runflat tires on the new Callaway SuperNatural Corvette will be held for interested media.
The Bridgestone runflat tire and wheel system represents a significant technological breakthrough in terms of runflat capability. Not only does the Bridgestone Expedia S-01 A/M Run-Flat provide excellent handling, ride quality and comfort when the tire is fully inflated, but the tire is capable of traveling at least 50 miles at 55 mph after it has lost all or part of its air pressure.
In a recent demonstration, a Callaway Corvette fitted with Bridgestone runflat tires traveled 280 miles from Las Vegas to Los Angeles with the left front tire completely deflated.
The system will be available in December as an option package on new Callaway Corvettes and to owners of Corvettes and Callaway Corvettes (1988 and newer models). This marks the first time that a runflat tire system has been made available to American consumers on a new automobile and in the replacement market.
At the Monday luncheon, Cerio will review the history of runflat technology, Bridgestone's present marketing program, and what the future holds for runflat tire technology.
Following the luncheon (at approximately 1:30 p.m.), Bridgestone officials will demonstrate the company's runflat technology by deflating a tire on a Callaway Corvette and driving it on the streets of Detroit.
The Detroit Press Club is located on Level 2 in tower 300 in the Renaissance Center. For more information, call the Bridgestone PR office or Flo Kerwin at the Detroit Press club, 313-393-3090.
