Salem Five Cents Savings Bank is building what it calls the world's first "physical virtual bank branch" in downtown Boston. The branch, located at 52 Congress Street, will offer self-service Internet kiosks, video conferencing with the bank's customer service representatives, a video wall displaying financial services information and stock tickers. Salem Five, which will be 150 years old in 2005, has plunged wholeheartedly into online banking through its website, directbanking.com.
