ULSTER head coach Brian McLaughlin Brian M. McLaughlin is a former American Democratic politician from Flushing, Queens.

He was a New York Assemblyman elected in 1992 to represent the 25th district. He was also President of the New York City Central Labor Council (CLC), which is a part of the AFL-CIO.
 believes the province's new management team has the right blend to mould the Ravenhill outfit into a consistent outfit.

McLaughlin was unveiled yesterday and will work with David Humphreys, the new Director of Rugby Operations, in making Ulster a force once more.

McLaughlin, who has taken a two year sabbatical from Head of PE at his Belfast school to tackle his dream job, already knows the Ulster squad well.

He was previously Irish skills coach for three years during the Eddie O'Sullivan era and is aware of the raw material he is working with at Ravenhill.

The 52-year-old Newtownards native added: "The squad is what it is, and I don't mean anything negative by saying that.

"I think they have certainly developed under Matt over the last 18 months and we will be trying to continue that development but bring a lot more consistency to it."
