Player-manager Brewster, who heaped praise on his men after a sixthwin in seven outings, is sure the new year will be a bright one for Euro 2008 hopeful Niculae.

Caley spent heavily in the hitman but he's starting to look a bargain. Brewster said: "Marius looked like he was really enjoying himself out there in the second half. Some of his touches were great and I couldn't believe he didn't get his hat-trick though Alan Combe deserves credit for his save.

"Marius' link-up with Graham Bayne was excellent. He's as good as anybody around the box.

"You don't play for your country as often as he has without having something and at times he shows his class. He enjoyed the freedom of the role behind the leading striker with Bayne giving him that licence."

Brewster was delighted with his troops' second-half showing after a disappointing first 45 minutes.

He added: "I asked the players for more energy after the break.

"We grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and it's great to wrap up 2007 with a home win."
