BREEDERS' CUP PURSES SOAR.

The Breeders' Cup The Breeders' Cup World Championships is an annual series of Grade I thoroughbred horse races operated by Breeders' Cup Limited, a company formed in 1982 by a consortium of North American racing organizations, led by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association.  at Santa Anita on Oct. 25 will be the richest day in American thoroughbred racing history thanks to $1 million in purse raises announced Monday.

Prize money for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile The Breeders' Cup Juvenile is a Thoroughbred horse race for 2-year-old colts and geldings raced on dirt. It is held annually at a different racetrack in the United States or Canada as part of the Breeders' Cup. , for 2-year-old colts and geldings, and the Breeders' Cup Mile, run on the turf course, is going up $500,000 apiece, making each race worth $1.5 million. Del Mar is seeking to host the event for the first time as early as 2007.
