BRECHIN CAN DUFF UP HIBS.

Byline: Kenny MacDonald

JIM DUFFY Jim Duffy may refer to multiple people:
  • Jim Duffy (journalist) (born 1966), journalist, political commentator, and Irish advisor to Australia's Republic Advisory Committee
  • Jim Duffy (football) (born 1959), the caretaker manager of Norwich City F.C.
reckons John Hughes' exciting brand of football will bring success to Hibs - but he's aiming to deny them a Co-operative Insurance Cup victory this month.

The former Easter Road Easter Road is the home ground of Scottish football club Hibernian. Located in the Leith area of Edinburgh, the stadium has a capacity of 17,500, making it the seventh largest stadium in Scotland and the largest stadium used primarily for football in Edinburgh.  boss will bring his Brechin players to the capital after the sides were paired in the second round of the tournament yesterday.

Hughes' approach to the game has won him many admirers, Duffy included, and the Glebe GLEBE, eccl. law. The land which belongs to a church. It is the dowry of the church. Gleba est terra qua consistit dos ecclesiae. Lind. 254; 9 Cranch, Rep. 329. In the civil law it signified the soil of an inheritance; there were serfs of the glebe, called gleboe addicti.  Park boss is convinced his rival will continue to impress - despite the fact he faces one of the toughest tasks in his short managerial career.

Duffy said: "Yogi's sides play good football and work hard and have a more studied approach in style.

"The Hibs fans will enjoy aspects of that football but the big difference going to Hibs is that you have to be successful.

"The first rule is you have to finish above Hearts! And the next one is obviously European football or silverware so the expectation levels are much, much higher than he has had at Falkirk.

Experience

has learned his trade very well and he has that experience now to handle a club like Hibs. You would expect him to do well over a period but it may take him longer than a season.

"So we are depending on catching him cold and hope the team have not quite settled or grasped whatYogi is looking for.

"We understand that we will have to be at our best to make sure there is a shock on the cards but the Co-operative Insurance Cup has thrown up a few upsets in the past. So we hope there is another one.

"But getting this draw for a club like ours is great because it will mean a bit of a profile for us when the tie comes up. And I am sure the players can enjoy that.

"I think, like many part-time clubs, you don't get too many opportunities to play at Easter Road so what we have to do is impress on the night and show that we are not a bad side."

Duffy has savoured the white-hot pressures at both Hibs and Hearts during his career and insists that only when you are on the books of the city rivals do you realise just how much is actually at stake.

He said: "The expectation levels are underestimated by most people outside of Edinburgh. Most people don't realise the intensity and the fervour of the Edinburgh support to their big clubs. Obviously I have been involved with both and have an insight into that.

"Hibs fans traditionally like to see their team playing an attacking style with free-flowing football but you ultimately have to achieve results.

"The first two were deemed to play a certain attacking style and Mixu tried to change it but he still managed to finish in the top six.

"Yogi has to try to complement both styles by finishing in the top level.

"However, I think he is ready and has the experience while two or three years ago was maybe too early for him.

"Even the difficulties he had at Falkirk last season will stand him in good stead. You have to sometimes have had that criticism and hear it to cope with it.

"We know he is tough anyway but sometimes you need to learn how to cope with criticism to ask questions of yourself.
