Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  and San Gabriel valleys, as well as Orange County.

``It's amazing,'' says Katherine Guthrie, the center's administrator. ``Since we went with completely digital equipment, radiologists can see calcifications in the breast that they wouldn't have seen on analogs. The images have striking detail and clarity, which means there's less images to be taken on the woman and less radiation they have to endure.''

Guthrie said the new center will help the hospital maintain its successful breast cancer survival rate, and its 88 percent breast-preservation rate (the national average of 57 percent).

The center is at 201 S. Buena Vista St., Suite 200, Burbank. To make an appointment for a screening or to tour the facility, call (818) 847-4999.
