, a cancer doctors said is rarely diagnosed in adults but is one of the most common malignancies found in children.

``What we're dealing with here is a tumor of the retina, a rare disease,'' said Dr. Anna Butterini, who is one of the doctors treating little Taylor.

Butterini said extra precaution is necessary in Taylor's case not only because of his age but because of where the tumor is located.

``We have to be careful because this can grow in his brain as well, so potentially this is life-threatening,'' she said.

The toddler is currently undergoing chemotherapy and doctors are certain that he will lose one of his eyes and are struggling to save the other.

William Howell said the family has been fortunate to receive support from both his and Kiesow's relatives. The parents, who both work full-time jobs, said their son has Medi-Cal coverage, but it will only pay a small part of the bills.

The breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the restaurant, 23154 W. Valencia Blvd. in Valencia.

Sando has set up a trust fund for the boy's bills. She can be reached at (805) 294-1780.
