The training courses will assist both retailers and suppliers in their implementation of the internationally recognised BRC Global Standards and will provide an in-depth and practical understanding of the requirements of the Standards.

The BRC will work closely with Intertek to run a pilot scheme in the two countries in the coming months. When the pilot is completed the courses will then be extended into other cities in Hong Kong Hong Kong (hŏng kŏng), Mandarin Xianggang, special administrative region of China, formerly a British crown colony (2005 est. pop. 6,899,000), land area 422 sq mi (1,092 sq km), adjacent to Guangdong prov.  and Turkey and eventually into other countries.

BRC Trading Commercial Director, Stephen Boobyer, says: "These developing markets continue to grow in importance for UK retailers and suppliers, which is one of the key reasons for beginning the trials in these markets.

"As the international reach of the BRC Global Standards grows it is imperative that those wishing to trade with the UK comply with the industry recognised standards."
