WOODBURY, N.Y., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Tomorrow, Oct. 13, the White House will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the setting of its first cornerstone.
To highlight this historic event, Bravo, television's culture channel, has produced a special segment of its cultural news show, "Artsbreak," on very special arts and the White House 200th Anniversary Art Exhibition. This very special arts "Artsbreak," will be presented at a VIP reception at the White House on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and will premiere on Bravo Saturday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m.
The White House 200th Anniversary Art Exhibition, a culmination of yearlong art exhibitions by Very Special Arts young people, focused on the theme "Life in the White House," and was designed to encourage students to go beyond the familiar facade of the White House and explore what has taken place over the last 200 years within its walls.
One young artist from each state and U.S. territory has been invited to Washington from Oct. 11-14 to attend the White House 200th Anniversary Art Exhibition at the White House on Oct. 13.
Bravo's "Artsbreak" went on location to Atlanta, Boston and Los Angeles to cover state art exhibitions, and to tape interviews with young people, their teachers and parents. Also featured in this program are commentaries on the importance of the arts to young people from Jean Kennedy Smith, founder of Very Special Arts, former First Lady Roslynn Carter and Nancy Bush Ellis, sister of the president. In addition to producing this special "Artsbreak," Bravo sponsored several of the state art exhibitions held across the country and will make this special available to teachers via the network's "Culture in the Classroom" program.
