But that could change.

Braswell is one of three finalists for the Oregon State job and a decision by OSU (Open Source UNIX) Refers to the Unix variants that are maintained as open source, which were primarily BSD Unix and Linux until Sun made its Solaris operating system open source in 2005.  athletic director Athletic director (commonly, "athletics director") is a position at many American colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, which oversees the work of the coaches and related staff involved in intercollegiate or interscholastic athletic  Mitch Barnhart is expected within the next couple of days, possibly as early as today.

Braswell, who interviewed for the job last week, said Wednesday night that he preferred not to comment on his status.

This is the second consecutive year Braswell, 37, has been considered for a Pac-10 job. A year ago, he was a finalist at Washington State. He has one year left on his CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  contract that pays him a base salary of $92,700.

Braswell, who inherited a CSUN program that had only seven wins in 1995-96, has a 65-53 record in four seasons. Northridge was 20-10 and made the Big Sky tournament championship game this past year, losing to Northern Arizona in overtime.

Northridge should have its strongest team next year, with starters Brian Heinle, Markus Carr, Jeff Parris and Carl Holmes returning. Five of the team's top seven scorers are coming back. And John Burrell, the Highland High of Palmdale graduate who led Nevada in scoring last season, also becomes eligible after transferring to CSUN last year.

Before taking over the Matadors, Braswell was an assistant for four years at Oregon, and his West Coast recruiting ties make him a strong candidate for the position in Corvallis.

The 34-year-old McKay, who Oregon papers say is the No. 1 candidate, was 37-23 in two seasons at CSU See DSU/CSU.

1. CSU - California State University.
