BRASWELL CONFIRMS HE'S WSU CANDIDATE.Byline: Chris Branam Daily News Staff Writer Cal State Northridge head men's basketball coach Bobby Braswell Bobby Braswell, an American basketball coach, is currently the head coach for Cal State Northridge. Braswell was named the fourth head coach in Northridge history on April 30, 1996, succeeding the retired Pete Cassidy. confirmed Saturday he is a candidate for the head job at Washington State. It was the first winning record produced by the Matadors under Braswell, who is 43-43 overall. Braswell came to CSUN, his alma mater, in 1996. He was previously an assistant at Oregon and Long Beach State and head coach at Cleveland High in the late 1980s. Originally from Winnipeg, Newman began his career at CTV where he served as the network's Washington correspondent from 1972 until , Kentucky assistant George Felton and Utah assistant Donny Daniels. Newman, a former head coach at Arizona State, appears to be the front-runner, but Braswell and Daniels are both attractive candidates.
