He chose Tippi Hedren's Shambala Wildlife Preserve in Acton for his project. With the help of 11 fellow Scouts and 16 other helpers, Brandon organized the clearing of brush and debris from the preserve to protect animals and their habitats in case of fire. The project took eight hours, which included time for explanation, instruction and assistance, which Brandon oversaw. When the task was complete, Shambala had a new fire clearance and a grateful staff, which invited Brandon and his group to return for a visit.
