BRAND ELEVATES CLIPPERS FORWARD SCORES 31 POINTS IN WIN CLIPPERS 116, ORLANDO 91.

Byline: JOE STEVENS Staff Writer

Elton Brand's numbers popped up. The Clippers' turnovers went down.

And all was right again in Clipperland -- at least for a night.

That's how one victory, a 116-91 win over the Orlando Magic The Orlando Magic is a professional basketball team based in Orlando, Florida. They play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). History

Any ``same old Clippers'' talk looked far from reality.

Players hooted and hollered, afterward. They made fun of Sam Cassell Samuel (Sam) James Cassell (born November 18, 1969 in Baltimore, Maryland) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays point guard for the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers.  -- but that was more a function of Cassell putting on a recording of the 1994 NBA Finals The NBA Finals is the championship series of the National Basketball Association.

In between the joking about how Cassell looked 16 years ago, most of the Clippers trumpeted their win as their best this season.

``We shared the ball,'' Brand said. ``And when we share the ball, good things come. We shot 60 percent tonight, and when we share the ball like we did, we can do that.''

With the exception for only about a minute, they led the entire second half by double digits in an excellent bounceback from a loss to the Lakers the previous day. Actually, it was also a bounceback from losing five of their previous six games.

Brand came out with 17 of his 31 points in the first quarter and shot 12 of 14 from the field. The Clippers scored 66points in the first half, the most of any of their halves this season, and Orlando looked like an Eastern Conference team.

``It's just good to get a win, finally,'' Chris Kaman said. ``We hadn't had a win in a long time. I think it's the firsttime we played well all season.''

Tim Thomas and Shaun Livingston both started, and both responded. Thomas, who had been struggling with his shot, scored 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 5of7 from 3-point range. Livingston dished dished
