BRADLEY IN FAIR CONDITION, RESPONDING TO TREATMENT.

 was in fair condition and resting comfortably Saturday, three days after suffering a heart attack, his doctor said.

The 78-year-old Bradley, who presided over the nation's second-largest city for 20 years, was responding well to medication at Kaiser Permanente Kaiser Permanente is an integrated managed care organization, based in Oakland, California, founded in 1945 by industrialist Henry J. Kaiser and physician Sidney R. Garfield.  Medical Center Los Angeles, said Dr. Fred Alexander Frederick Beasley Alexander (Seabright, New Jersey, August 14, 1880 – March 3, 1969 in Beverly Hills, California) was a top-ranked tennis player in the early 20th century.  during a news conference at the Hollywood hospital.

"His vital signs are stable and within normal limits. He is resting comfortably and only family members are being allowed to visit at this time," said Alexander, Bradley's personal physician.

Bradley suffered the heart attack Wednesday night.

"He was driving, he felt pain in his chest, pulled over and dialed 911" at a McDonald's restaurant in suburban Norwalk, said City Councilman Nate Holden Nathaniel "Nate" R. Holden (1929-) served on the Los Angeles City Council from 1987 to 2002. He previously served a term on the California State Senate and was Assistant Chief Deputy to then Los Angeles County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn. .

"The whole city is praying for a full recovery," Holden said.

Bradley had been taking pills for high blood pressure but seemed in good health, Holden added.

"He's an athlete among everything else and a politician. And both the sport and the profession are very tense and competitive. So he'll do well. He knows what to do," Holden said.

Los Angeles Councilwoman Rita Walters said in the 30 years she has known Bradley he has not had any serious bouts with illness.

"I'm just like everyone else. I was extremely concerned on first learning of it. Everyone with whom I've spoken since then has been very solicitous so·lic·i·tous
