BPMI.org members reflect all aspects of Business Process Management (BPM), from vendors of process modeling tools, rule engines, and business process management systems (BPMS (Business Process Management Suite or System) See BPM. ), to major consulting firms and end user organizations, to name just a few. The expertise and domain knowledge of each member ensures that the efforts of BPMI.org accurately reflect the needs of technology users and the growing BPM industry as a whole.

"We are fortunate to be joined in our efforts by such a high quality of members," said Ismael Ghalimi, initiator of BPMI.org. "The rapid growth of our organization clearly indicates the need for a coherent approach to business process management."

Members are currently focused on refining and developing implementations of the Business Process Modeling Language (BPML (Business Process Modeling Language) A modeling language for business processes from the Business Process Management Initiative (www.bpmi.org). Unlike eBXML, which is geared to public interfaces, BPML is designed to model private processes. ). BPML is a meta-language for the modeling of business processes, just as XML is a meta-language for the modeling of business data. Among other advantages, BPML provides the ability to rapidly design and deploy complex, custom processes, and to analyze these processes in real-time. By covering the multiple dimensions of business process management in the open enterprise, BPML will bridge the gap between legacy IT infrastructures and emerging business-to-business collaboration protocols such as ebXML, RosettaNet, and BizTalk.
