The Diamond Ranch High boys' soccer team scored a goal on counterattacks in each half to pull off a stunning 2-0 upset of previously unbeaten and top-seeded La Canada in Tuesday's Southern Section Division IV semifinal at La Canada.

The Spartans (22-1-1) outshot Diamond Ranch 14-4 and had the better scoring opportunities, but Panthers goalkeeper Daniel Hentges rose to the occasion time and again. The senior finished with eight saves.
